Spring has definitely sprung. Unfortunately it has also been much too rainy, completely delaying our plans for this year's garden. We've decided to go much smaller and plant only what we need for ourselves this year. As for the actual plot, we've managed to find some new inhabitants.
Dad built the hutch for our newly acquired fowl out of leftover materials such as plywood pieces from an old dog house, metal roofing, and chicken wire; used the frame of an old porch swing for the structure; and plans to add wheels and movable panels so these lovelies can be on pasture all summer.
La Finca is located in Chenango County, NY. These are our adventures in farming and gardening.

Good news
The potato plants are flowering and they should be ready soon. We had planted squash, cucumber, and zucchini seeds but only had one plant come up! We went out bought some more squash and cucumber plants and they should come in - unfortunately a little later than hoped. We heard from the local greenhouse that we weren't the only ones. Because it started out really warm in May, frosted, and warmed up again, it killed many seeds. Our potatoes made it though! and so did lots of our other usuals - tomatoes, radishes, beets, carrots, and more!

summer 2010
This year, we're trying potatoes and they look great! Tato and Ricardo came for a visit and will definitely be able to improve some things - las huertas need some work. Stay tuned for updates. More photos coming soon!
